Summer Rain

In the glow of a beautiful sunset,
I waited to see your silhouette.
You were hidden perfectly within this town,
Hues of summer concealed you so well.

As I walked home, the sunset fell away.
The orange sky was replaced by a rainy gray.
There you were, so far from my reach.
I closed my eyes and fought tears, as rain kept falling.

Trying to reach out for you,
Searching, running, after your love.
No matter how close I get,
or how much I want to,
I can't reach you.

Close, and still we're far apart.
Why won't you open your heart?
Emotion builds inside me,
I'm screaming--calling.
Please don't let me lose you in the summer rain.

Captivated by the love I wanted so,
But you only shied away when we got close.
If I tried to take your hand or see your face,
You would only try to look away.

I remember spending time with you,
As we walked home together,
Something was changing.
Clouds coverered the sky, bright and blue,
And as the rainfall started,
Your smile parted.

How could you just disappear?
I can't forget you, it's clear.
My heart swells with desire,
A burning fire I can't extinquish.
Something's changed--I can't repair,
I'll look but won't find you there.

And as the rainclouds fade,
Nothing will remain, of us,
Traces of you will just become memories.

Sunlight pours onto the streets,
Quietly reminding me,
Our time together's over,
You're gone forever,
It's too late for us...

Oh...No...!

How could you just disappear?
I can't forget you, it's clear.

I know I'm being selfish,
But I can't help it,

Please don't leave me.

Something's changed--I can't repair,
I'll look but won't find you there.

Emotion builds inside me,
I'm screaming--calling.

Please don't let me lose you in the summer rain.

I want to stay,
Together please.
Don't leave.
